Title: Great informational book.

Review: Great book with a wealth of information on how to use, care for, and even make hand tools. My only gripe with this book (the reason it lost a star) is that whoever did the picture placements in this book had no clue what was going on. The illustrations and pictures are constantly referred to by the text but the pictures are almost always a couple of pages ahead or behind of the paragraph explaining them. I don't like having to constantly flip back and forth to read the explanation and see the pic when it would have been so easy to just move around the pictures since they are some on almost every page.

Title: A must-have for hand woodworkers

Review: There has lately been renewed interest in woodworking using hand tools, and there have been a number of good books on the topic, largely due to the efforts of Roy Underhill and of Chris Schwartz and his Lost Art Press. But nearly a century ago, when hand tools were still the norm, Bernard Jones wrote what were some of the best books ever written on hand woodworking. I became aware of them through the recommendation of Chris Schwartz, and they are as essential to my woodworking library as are the books Schwarz publishes.

Review: I had already read the one-volume "ReadersDigest" version of Mr Jones' excellent book cover to cover several times - it is beat up from being in my workshop. Even so there is so much more in these books. Together they give much more detail, instruction, tips and work ideas than any other wood-working compendium I've yet found.
